Terms and Expression I use that May Require Some Explaining

Broadcaster - The television network that will air the show.

Broadcast standards and practices - The set of guidelines that episodic content has to meet. These can be very restrictive in children's programming.

Edit - (v) To make a change to video or audio.(n) Any change made to video or audio.

Network format- The mold that each episode has to fit before it can air.

Paint fix - This has become a general term that covers any computer-generated revision to footage. This can result in scenes being significantly altered; guns can be removed, cigarette smoke can disappear, breast size can be reduced, cleavage can be covered up. You can get very creative - and spend a lot of time and money making paint fixes.

Paper casting - Casting that doesn't need previous approval. A producer or casting director has the go-ahead from the client to make the call themselves. The usually only happens in small, non-recurring roles.
